Vase #1. Piece #9. Thrown 10/2022. Glazed and Raku Fired 1/2023.

Maker's Notes:

  • Inspired by organic shapes of pinch pots. Tried to make it more dramatic by cutting down the base at a similar angle to the top. The clay needed to be thick enough at the base to support this.
  • Trimming was tough since it needed to remain upside down and level, without denting the top. Hence the ring of clay underneath it.
  • First time doing Raku Firing! It required me to smooth/buff down all the clay so it was shiny. Also rubbed in some baby oil. Then,
